Important Upcoming Dates
Attendance We would like to remind families to please report student absences using the school’s designated attendance line/extension, 403-777-7430 Ext 0. Messages left on the main school voicemail/email are not checked as frequently throughout the day, which may result in delays in recording your child’s absence.
Please make sure to spell the student’s last name and include the date of the absence in the message.
Alternatively, you can email Mrs. Crane in the main office at: decranemctaggart@cbe.ab.ca.

School Parking lot is off limits
Please do not enter, stop, or park in the parking lot during the school day.
Given that there are no parking stalls available for public use and given that dropping off students in the parking lot is prohibited (and extremely unsafe), there is no reason for any parent/guests to be driving in the school parking lot, before, during and after school.
Bus zones, Handicap Parking zones and the school parking lot should not be used at anytime for dropping off or picking up students. This is in accordance with CBE policy to ensure the safety of all students.
If you are parking on the other side of the street, please insist that your children use the crosswalks, and not jay walk. Parents and students jaywalking between buses is extremely problematic, and we ask that parents/students obey the law and not jaywalk. Pedestrians should cross the street at corners and crosswalks only.

CASINO VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Dear Wilma Hansen School Families,
The Wilma Hansen School Parent Association is looking for volunteers for our upcoming casino fundraiser on December 5 & 6, 2026 at Pure Casino (1420 Meridian Rd NE, Calgary, AB T2A 2N9)
Casino fundraising is one of the most important ways we can earn between $70,000 - $80,000 per casino event which directly funds learning supports, technology, field trips, residencies and enrichment opportunities that would not be possible without filling every volunteer shift.
New this year:
Volunteers will receive a $100 credit per shift that can be applied toward field trips and other school-based fees for the 2026-2027 school year.
No previous casino experience is required, and training will be provided for all positions.
We are looking for volunteers for a variety of shifts and roles throughout the two days. If you, or someone you know, are able to help, please sign up using the link below:

Sincerely,
Wilma Hansen School Parent Association

Library
Mark the date and get ready to support your students and your school!
September 14-19th, Wilma Hansen is hosting a Scholastic Book Fair in the Learning Commons. We host at least one book fair each school year to encourage literacy with our students. When we find and choose books that we are interested in, we are more engaged and likely to read that book. Consider letting your student purchase their own book to read at their own pace and location. Please visit our Book Fair home page at https://bookfairs.scholastic.ca/bf/wilmahansenschool2 to find out more about the fair and our FAMILY NIGHT on Sept. 17th.
Scholastic Book Fairs curate their collections with students in mind, what interests them, what reading levels they are at, and what is new and relevant to them. You can see the Book Fair showcase at https://www2.scholastic.ca/bookfairs/bookfair/preview-fair/.
Please support the book fair and help Wilma earn rewards to get new books for our school library - a win for all students!
