Important Upcoming Dates
School Parking lot is off limits Please do not enter, stop, or park in the parking lot during the school day.
Given that there are no parking stalls available for public use and given that dropping off students in the parking lot is prohibited (and extremely unsafe), there is no reason for any parent/guests to be driving in the school parking lot, before, during and after school.
Bus zones, Handicap Parking zones and the school parking lot should not be used at anytime for dropping off or picking up students. This is in accordance with CBE policy to ensure the safety of all students.
If you are parking on the other side of the street, please insist that your children use the crosswalks, and not jay walk. Parents and students jaywalking between buses is extremely problematic, and we ask that parents/students obey the law and not jaywalk. Pedestrians should cross the street at corners and crosswalks only.

Attendance
We would like to remind families to please report student absences using the school’s designated attendance line/extension, 403-777-7430 Ext 0.
Messages left on the main school voicemail/email are not checked as frequently throughout the day, which may result in delays in recording your child’s absence.
Please make sure to spell the student’s last name and include the date of the absence in the message.
Alternatively, you can email Mrs. Crane in the main office at: decranemctaggart@cbe.ab.ca.

PowerSchool Grades and Assignments
We encourage all students and families to check PowerSchool weekly, or at least every two weeks, to stay informed about academic progress.
As students move through middle school, developing independence and taking ownership of their learning becomes increasingly important. Regularly reviewing grades and teacher feedback helps students reflect on their progress, identify areas for growth, and make improvements on future assignments.
Transparency and ongoing assessment are essential for everyone involved. Regular updates help students, families, and teachers maintain a shared understanding of learning progress, celebrate successes, and identify concerns early so that appropriate support can be provided.
We appreciate families’ support in establishing this routine while encouraging students to take increasing responsibility for monitoring their own progress.
Our goal is not simply for students to know their grades, but to understand their learning and take meaningful steps toward improvement.
Thank you for your continued support in helping students become independent, reflective, and responsible learners!
