School Parking lot is off limits

Please do not enter, stop, or park in the parking lot during the school day.

Given that there are no parking stalls available for public use and given that dropping off students in the parking lot is prohibited (and extremely unsafe), there is no reason for any parent/guests to be driving in the school parking lot, before, during and after school.

Bus zones, Handicap Parking zones and the school parking lot should not be used at anytime for dropping off or picking up students. This is in accordance with CBE policy to ensure the safety of all students.

If you are parking on the other side of the street, please insist that your children use the crosswalks, and not jay walk. Parents and students jaywalking between buses is extremely problematic, and we ask that parents/students obey the law and not jaywalk. Pedestrians should cross the street at corners and crosswalks only.

Attendance

We would like to remind families to please report student absences using the school’s designated attendance line/extension, 403-777-7430 Ext 0. Messages left on the main school voicemail/email are not checked as frequently throughout the day, which may result in delays in recording your child’s absence.

Please make sure to spell the student’s last name and include the date of the absence in the message.

Alternatively, you can email Mrs. Crane in the main office at: decranemctaggart@cbe.ab.ca.

Wrestling

Wrestling season has started up at Wilma Hansen!

Wrestling practices will take place on Monday’s and Thursday’s after school from 3:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

All students in Grades 6–9 are welcome to attend, whether they are new to wrestling or have previous experience. This is a great opportunity for students to try something new, build their skills, and be part of a team. We look forward to seeing everyone on the mats!

School Drama Production

Our Drama Production is getting underway, and we are excited to see students get involved!

Auditions will take place on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday after school, as well as Tuesday morning. Any students interested in being part of this year’s production are encouraged to sign up for an audition using the sign-up sheet posted on the Drama Room door. Whether you love performing on stage or want to challenge yourself by trying something new, we would love to see you get involved. We look forward to seeing our students’ creativity and talent shine!
