Attendance

It is important that you call the school if your child is going to be absent or arriving late. Please report all absences to the Attendance Line at 403-777-7430 ext.1.

Please make sure to spell the student’s last name and include the date of the absence in the message.

Alternatively, you can email Mrs. Crane in the main office at: decranemctaggart@cbe.ab.ca.

See more on our attendance page: https://wilmahansen.cbe.ab.ca/attendance

School Parking lot is off limits

Please do not enter, stop, or park in the parking lot during the school day.

Given that there are no parking stalls available for public use and given that dropping off students in the parking lot is prohibited (and extremely unsafe), there is no reason for any parent/guests to be driving in the school parking lot, before, during and after school.

Bus zones, Handicap Parking zones and the school parking lot should not be used at anytime for dropping off or picking up students. This is in accordance with CBE policy to ensure the safety of all students.

If you are parking on the other side of the street, please insist that your children use the crosswalks, and not jay walk. Parents and students jaywalking between buses is extremely problematic, and we ask that parents/students obey the law and not jaywalk. Pedestrians should cross the street at corners and crosswalks only.

Physical Education

Greetings Parents/Guardians…

We are going to be starting our Human Sexuality Unit in Health class in about one month from now (around May 11th), and things are new this year as a result of a decision made by the provincial government.  This year all schools in Alberta need to receive explicit, written consent from parents/guardians for their child to be allowed to participate in the Human Sexuality Unit.  This means that you will need to complete a brief form and send it back to the school in order for your child to participate in this unit.  In years past, parents/guardians only needed to indicate if they DIDN’T want their child to participate.  Now everyone needs to fill out this form, either opting IN or opting OUT.

If your child does not participate in this unit, they will spend the week working on an alternative Health Assignment that will need to be completed before they can participate in regular PE classes again.

We are handing out paper copies of this form to your child in PE class this week.  Please ask them about it and do your best to return it to us at the school as soon as possible.  We would like to have all of them back by the end of April at the latest.  However, in case your child loses the form, or is absent and doesn’t get one, we are attaching them here for you to print off and return.  Each form is grade specific, so please make sure you get the right one.

If you have any questions or concerns at all, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at the school (mdharris@cbe.ab.ca)   Thanks so much for your help and patience with this new process.  Cheers…

April 8, 2026 Spring Book Fair Coming Soon

Save the dates: May 11-14th. Please plan to support our bookfair by sending money with your students to browse the fair on their own or come see the drama presentation in the evening of May 13th and visit the fair at the same time. This will be the last sale this school year.

Supporting our school book fairs serve your students in two major ways: 1) they get to exercise autonomy in finding books that they like and choose and 2) the school gets rewards based on sales, which helps us to get the new and relevant books for our Learning Commons. The more books sold at the fair means the more books the school can offer students during their weekly book exchange time.
